Duran Duran set for Ronson revamp at special gig

Duran Duran to collaborate with Mark Ronson for one-off concert
Eighties legends Duran Duran are to collaborate with producer Mark Ronson ahead of a one-off concert in France.

Ronson, who played an instrumental role in the rise of Lily Allen as well as crafting the resurgence of Amy Winehouse, is to remix a number of the Wild Boys stars' tracks.

The producer said the task of rejigging tracks such as Rio and Save A Prayer attracted him because Duran Duran "were the only band I ever idolised".

And the Brit award-winner said his obsession with the band was such that he "used to take a picture of [bassist] John Taylor with me to the barber shop".

Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon said Ronson was "one of the biggest talents to have emerged in recent years".

"He's taking popular music in a new, exciting and fresh direction," he said in a statement.

"He also looks great in a well-cut suit, and has the blood and voice of an Englishman."

The Smirnoff Experience concert at La Cigalle in Paris on July 2nd is invite-only but is to be filmed and broadcast globally.

Ronson revealed this week that he and Winehouse are working on a potential theme song for Quantum of Solace, the 22nd James Bond movie.

"Hopefully it will get used. We're working on it and we'll see happens," he told BBC 6 Music.

"They asked Amy, and I think Amy said that if she did it, she'd want to do it with me. So hopefully something will come of it."
