Museo de Traje de Madrid - Costume Museum

I've made 3 attempts to visit this museum, all to find it closed. This must have been my lucky day. A great collection of clothing and jewelry from the Belle Epoch until today. They were also currently having a special show on the history of COLOR in fashion. We saw some great pieces from Chanel, Balenciaga, Pertagaz, and Lanvin. The museum is really well done. It reminds me a lot like the fashion museum at the V&A, but BETTER...

Unfortunately, no cameras are allowed in the exhibits in order to preserve the pieces which are well kept in cool weather installations.

If you are big on 20th Century Design and Furniture, I suggest you stop by teh Casa do Brazil. It's a living quarters/school located across the street from the Costume Museum. It's a bit worn down but the facade and interior is really cool. They offer Portuguese classes and other amentities for Brazilian transplantees..
