Gabriela Artigas Jewelry
Just found about this designer on a cool blog called Glossy Addict. A new take on the BOW!
Gabriela Artigas challenges the very definition of "jewerly" blurring the lines between adornment and armor. Her collections include chokers, cuffs, necklaces, earrings, belts, chains with loops around the hips and pieces which are meant to be worn around the neck as well as the hips. Her collections also holds some avant-garde creations, pieces which are worn around the shoulders, the chest or which wrap around the hand from teh wrist to the thumb.
"The results look something like Wilma Flinstone might wear if Fred hit the jackpot down at the quarry" - NYLON MAGAZINE
Gabriela Artigas is available online gabrielaartigas.com or if you are in LA you can buy her stuff at one our favorite shops, AERO & CO.

Designer of the Week: Grace Sun
Drawing inspiration from the chic capricious lifestyles of Manhattan's East Village, Grace Sun has created a label that not only reflects her personal design aesthetic of clean lines and finishing, but also unabashedly shows-off a uniquely feminine touch. The collection, made up of stunningly stylish yet detailed pieces such as dresses, coats, vests and tops in organic natural fabrics as crushed linen, cotton and silk, is meant to fit effortlessly into a modern woman's life while enticing her to reveal the innately playful side.
"I want to design clothes that are fashionable yet versatile, feminine yet tailored, and most of all, reflect my personal touch and aesthetics," says Sun. Expect no less than just that; a line created with heart and soul. Grace Sun Design.

Fashion Flick of the Week: F is for Fake
and fashion too! I don't know whether this documentary is a fake as well but it is well worth a view for it's interesting subject matter and for it's fashion fabulous (Orson Welle's girlfriend Oda Kadar makes our fashion icon list!)
About the Film:
Trickery. Deceit. Magic. In Orson Welles’s free-form documentary F for Fake, the legendary filmmaker (and self-described charlatan) gleefully engages the central preoccupation of his career—the tenuous line between truth and illusion, art and lies. Beginning with portraits of world-renowned art forger Elmyr de Hory and his equally devious biographer, Clifford Irving, Welles embarks on a dizzying cinematic journey that simultaneously exposes and revels in fakery and fakers of all stripes—not the least of whom is Welles himself. Charming and inventive, F for Fake is an inspired prank and a searching examination of the essential duplicity of cinema.

Poiret: King of Fashion
I highly recommend checking out the following at the MET. I did yesterday!
Poiret: King of Fashion
May 9, 2007–August 5, 2007
Special Exhibition Galleries, 1st floor
In the annals of fashion history, Paul Poiret (1879–1944), who called himself the "King of Fashion," is best remembered for freeing women from corsets and further liberating them through pantaloons. However, it was Poiret’s remarkable innovations in the cut and construction of clothing, made all the more remarkable by the fact that he could not sew, that secured his legacy. Working the fabric directly onto the body, Poiret helped to pioneer a radical approach to dressmaking that relied more on the skills of drapery than on those of tailoring. Focusing on his technical ingenuity and originality, the exhibition explores Poiret’s modernity in relation to and as an expression of the dominant discourses of the early 20th century, including Cubism, Classicism, Orientalism, Symbolism, and Primitivism.
