Two week left before the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit closes

Today I went to the exhibit and I had to wait in line to see the Alexander McQueen exhibit. I guess it because it's weekend but so worth the wait.

You are not allowed to take pictures but I did, just one. I took it with my iPod and the lens was aiming towards the mirror and I got the reflection of this black feather dress.

The exhibition celebrates the late Mr. McQueen's extraordinary contributions to fashion. From his Central Saint Martins postgraduate collection in 1992 to his final runway presentation, which took place after his death in February 2010, Mr. McQueen challenged and expanded our understanding of fashion beyond utility to a conceptual expression of culture, politics, and identity. Holiday Monday: Christmas/New Year's Week.

The Main Building of the Metropolitan Museum—select galleries, public restaurants, and shops—will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in honor of Christmas/New Year's week.

Since I am single, I should be going to this event that is taking place Black Rabbit Bar.

The Pictures Generation, 1974–1984 exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

This is the first major museum exhibition to focus exclusively on “The Pictures Generation,” a tightly knit group of New York artists who created some of the most important and influential works of the late-twentieth-century. Born into the media culture of postwar America, their overarching subject was how pictures of all kinds not only depict but also shape reality. Highly seductive photographs by Richard Prince and Cindy Sherman reveal the ways in which images from B movies and magazine advertisements determine much of our sense of who we are. Louise Lawler and Sherrie Levine examine how the myths and legends of modern art are inextricably tied to the institutions of the museum and art history. Also included are photographs by Laurie Simmons, James Casebere, James Welling, and Allan McCollum, as well as works in other media by Robert Longo, Troy Brauntuch, David Salle, among others.

Special Exhibition- blog.mode: addressing fashion

The Met will be having an exhibit at the Costume Institute Dept.

December 18, 2007–April 13, 2008

As a living art form, fashion is open to multiple readings. A vibrant reflection of contemporary culture, fashion—especially in its most avant-garde expressions—affects us through its intense visual impact. blog.mode: addressing fashion will be the first in a series of shows designed to promote critical and creative dialogues about fashion. The exhibition will present some 40 costumes and accessories dating from the 18th century to the present—all recent Metropolitan Museum acquisitions—and will invite visitors to share their reactions via a blog that can be accessed from the "Special Exhibitions" page of the Museum's website or from a "blogbar" of computer terminals in the exhibition galleries. Over the duration of the exhibition, individual costumes and accessories will be posted on the blog periodically with commentary from the Costume Institute curators and, where relevant, from contemporary designers.
