THE PUERTO RICAN DAY PARADE REMIXED
Clemente Soto Velez Arts Center
107 Suffolk between Rivington & Delancey
Concept:
The Puerto Rican Day Parade is the single largest public display of Puerto Rican identity in the United States. How have artists interpreted this parade in their art and what kinds of floats and public projects would artists contribute to the parade if given the opportunity to participate? Artist’s projects that seek to intervene in the representation of Puerto Rican identity at the parade, to portray what has been missing, excluded, or commercialized. This exhibition will display artists projects for the Puerto Rican Day Parade that we hope will be realized in the future.
Artists will present a collection of ideas, Drawings, Painting, Sculpture, Photographs, Collage, a fantasy, an installation or a collective project with an artistic vision for the Puerto Rican Parade.
A Blow Up of Puerto Rican Culture Icons (with a twist).
