New Arrivals: Rella and Nave
New Designer: RELLA
Who is Rella? The designer, Cindy Borjas is an art director with a strong background in costume history. She began designing jewelry a few years ago, after being frustrated by the lack of truly unique accessories available in the stores. She designs things she always wanted to wear but could never find. This season, she has created jewelry that encompasses motifs and ideas from different eras in costume history, but with a modern twist so the piece is wearable now and for many years to come. Cindy loves to experiment and her aim is always to create jewelry that makes you feel as if you are wearing something very special and one-of-a-kind - just like you. Her pieces are not for shy types! They are for girls who like to wear unique pieces. Her necklaces work best with simple shapes and work especially well with the1920 flapper look that we are seeing everywhere this fall.
Lola y Maria is very proud to be one of the first shops to carry the line and as a special treat, those of you subscribed shoppers will receive 15% off your purchase on any Rella items, now through Monday, October 22nd. Just enter code: luckyrabbit, upon checkout.

Nave Fall - Designed by Alice Ritter and Carson Potter
Each season Nave invites a group of collaborating designers to contribute specific elements of the collection. The newest collaborators for fall /winter 2007 are New York City based designers Alice Ritter and Carson Potter.
About the Designers:
Carson Potter: Sariah Carson and Jaylin Potter (Parsons survivors by the way) are based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Their work plays beautifully against the silhouette with exquisite attention to detail. While evocative of classic sentiments of femininity, it drops the puritan sense of modesty with its rich decadent textures.
Alice Ritter:Ritter describes her style as "feminine, romantic and bold. It's a mix between the dream of couture I had as a kid growing up in France and every-day practicality. I like clothes with spirit and a touch of humor."
Ritter also 2007 is inspired by 1960s French and Italian style icons Jeanne Moreau and Monica Vitti, who play rivals in the movie, La Notte. But Ritter also draws on what she calls "poetic persona," such as Lee Miller, to make this collection "a combination of pre-war romance and 60s minimalist chic."Collection Highlights include the modern armory coat, lace stitch sweater dress, frocks featuring grossgrain ribbon, lacin, oversized buttons and other innovative detailing!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Andrea Meyer has written for such publications as Variety, Interview, Fitness, Glamour, the Daily News and the popular film Web site indieWIRE. Four years ago, after getting evicted from her apartment, Andrea wrote a story for the New York Post for which she pretended to be looking for a roommate as a ploy to meet guys. The article was the inspiration for ROOM FOR LOVE.
ABOUT THE BOOK: Room for Love is based on an article the author wrote for the New York Post, for which she pretended she was looking for a roommate as a ploy to meet men. In the fictional version, Jacquie Stuart-- struggling writer, East Village apartment owner, cinemaniac, dog lover, yogini, commitment-phobe in chronic pursuit of a commitment-phobe--takes a break from writing celebrity puff pieces to make some cash. She pitches a story to a glossy women's magazine proposing using the real-estate ads as a hot new dating scheme. When her editor insists that she do the research herself, Jacquie finds herself on a romantic rollercoaster ride that takes her to the dingier digs of the Upper Eastside, the brownstones of Brooklyn and the slums of the Lower Eastside. In a story that brings together two New York obsessions--romance and real estate--one woman is forced to question the shaky foundations of the bed she has made, and wonder if maybe searching for happiness in other people's homes is the wrong way to find Mr. Right.
"Room for Love offers a laugh-out-loud funny, sizzling yet soulful urban story of sex and square feet." -Susan Shapiro, author of Five Men Who Broke My Heart
"With writing that glitters like the NYC skyline itself, it's a smart urban romp that'll have everyone calling Meyer the downtown Candace Bushnell." -Erin Torneo, coauthor of The Bridal Wave: A Survival Guide to the Everyone-I-Know-Is-Getting-Married Years

About Love Brigade
Conceived in London, UK in the Spring of 2005, Love Brigade is a "musically-charged" fashion label which represents the ideal of a fashion, music, and love co-existence. Each season, we use a formula to design our collections: one part trend and one part music inspiration. We combine these two elements and create a story by which to design. This closeness with music and the music industry has also allowed us to launch Love Brigade Music Merchandising (LBMM), which offers services of styling, merchandising design, and custom wardrobe to musicians.
