The privileged isolation of wealthy people in gated communities does little to insulate them from the dangers of a society where the gap between rich and poor increases with dizzying haste. As in a horror movie, the unnaturally perfect ‘zona’ is as much a character as the inhabitants, a premise filmmaker Rodrigo Plá exploits with impressive dramatic flair. After a robbery goes awry and one of the young robbers goes on the run inside the gates, vigilante justice and private contractors conspire to keep the police at bay. The disaffected, powerless teens on both sides forge a bond against the older generation’s vulgar displays of wealth and entitlement. The pitch-perfect direction and well-honed script of this edge-of-the-seat suspense film provide a perfect backdrop for the three-dimensional characters.

Brooklyn Museum's Target First Saturday - Takashi Murakami

This Saturday on April 5, they will be featuring
"Japanimated! Arts and Cultures of Japan"

One of the cool things that is taking place will be the contest for dressing up as your favorite amime or manga character and get your chance to have your picture taken to win a © MURAKAMI catalogue! From 5:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m. Cosplay Photo Contest

Fashion Week Daily reports that leather Louis Vuitton goods in the new pattern will come in three shades of green and be sold at the pop-up Vuitton shop in the Brooklyn Museum before hitting LV shops worldwide.

One half of Brazilian-inspired hip hop duo NASA and cross-genre producer and remixer, Squeak E. Clean has collaborated with musicians ranging from The Yeah Yeah Yeahs to RZA to David Byrne.

Legendary New York DJ Stretch Armstrong has been a backbone of the hip hop community since the 90s, introducing the world to artists such as Nas and Notorious B.I.G. through his seminal radio show on WKCR.

Together they will reach deep into their crates and bring you a party as flavorful as their influence.
